Condom Bribe

5 Million people in SA are infected with HIV, about 10% of the population – a massive problem, especially given the uneducated population on balance. Every year the govt. distributes millions of condoms to control HIV and the birth rate. A few years ago, I recall that millions of condoms were distributed with a leaflet – only thing was the condoms were STAPLED to the leaflet!! Now it transpires this week that the company producing the condoms bribed a government official to certify 4 million faulty condoms as up to standard. To me, that’s punishable as an offence akin to murder. I heard about it on triplej radio in Aus, then found it on bbc. But on iafrica – eish, nothing. I bet nothing will happen the the official in question. Just another day in africa.
