I went for a ride with my mate Seb last week - the 2 gorges. About 30k down and we started the descent down into Berowra Waters. I’ve been riding bikes for 20 years, and as an experienced rider I don’t expect to make stupid beginner mistakes. Sure I wipe out going for stuff on a Mountain bike, but not on a road bike - on bitumen, on a straight road. But I did - I touched Seb’s wheel and went down - hard. Seb’s GPS tells us that I was doing 62kph at the point of impact - collar bone broken, some ribs and a few bruises. My first words were ‘hospital’ as I could hardly breathe and was in a world of pain. On the bright side: a) I was damn lucky - at that speed your organs can rupture and then it’s another story. b) 60mg of Morphine was interesting! Bike is trashed, glasses trashed and helmet trashed. Time for some new goodies!
